What a week!

This past week has been pretty crappy here-Central Texas had nasty ice storms that caused road accidents, land and property damage, power and internet outages, and at least seven deaths have been attributed to the storms. Despite all my preparations, I had to deal with a power/internet outage at home. It wasn't as bad as some people in my area, but intermittent power and internet made it difficult to want to get anything done, even when I had the ability.

I did take some time after the worst of it to take my Baofeng radio out on the road and report back to Williamson County ARES where power was out, where traffic lights were out, and where weather and tree damage impeded roads. I felt useful for the first time in days, which is giving me a renewed sense of determination to get stuff done. I attended an advanced SkyWarn seminar this morning, and am ready to get back into the swing of my daily CQs and regular blog posts.

I hope everyone out there is staying safe and warm during the winter storms across the country!
